Roneagle in the Spotlight: Dr. Bernadine J. Williams, MA, LPC, NCC, LAC, CCS, CCGC

Dr. Bernadine J. Williams, MA, LPC, NCC, LAC, CCS, CCGC is a true Knitter (Class of 1978 – Keeping the Knit Together). She received her BS in Psychology from SUNO where she currently serves as an adjunct professor, and obtained her Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Xavier University. In 2009, Dr. Williams received an award for Supervisor of the Year for Louisiana.  She will be graduating from Mississippi College on August 4, 2018 with a doctorate in Professional Counseling in Psychology.  Her passion for Addiction and helping people recover lead to her dissertation: Developing a Short Term, Medication Free, Transitional Recovery Program for Adult Residents of Jefferson Parish Diagnosed with Substance Disorder.

Dr. Williams manages the Medication Assisted Treatment Prescription Drugs and Opioid Addiction (MAT-PDOA) grant for the Tri-Parish (New Orleans, Plaquemine and St. Bernard Parish).  This grant allows for the admittance of  low-income drug addicted people, especially pregnant addicted women, who cannot afford medication-assisted treatment, into treatment and change their lives.  She is the Past President of New Orleans Addiction Professional Association (NOAPA) and a board member of Addiction Disorder Regulatory Authority (ADRA).  Additionally, she is the Vice President of  the Women’s Auxiliary of James Chapel Baptist Church.  “I love the Lord.  My life would not be what it is without Him.  I also love helping people.  Someone paid it forward to me and I will pay it forward to someone else.”
