Alumni Weekend

2024 Career Day – WE NEED YOU

During our years at McDonogh 35, we sat through presentations about careers and our futures, given by Alumni visitors. Those presentations may have helped determine your career path or you now see how the speaker could have connected better with you as a student. Here is your opportunity to help shape current Roneagles.

The Career Day/Career Fair will take place on Friday, March 1, 2024. The day will include:

  • Career Day – 9 am to 12 pm

Alumni will speak to students in a classroom setting

Alumni will rotate to different classrooms

  • Career Fair – 1 pm to 3 pm

Alumni will be provided a 6 ft table in the gymnasium for set up

Alumni will engage students as they approach the table

Alumni are encouraged to sign up for both Career Day and Career Fair. Please register for this event by completing the 2024 Career Day/Career Fair Event registration form

If you have any questions about the Career Day/Career Fair event, please email us at CareerDay@mcdonogh35alumniassociation.org

We look forward to Alumni returning home to help prepare our current Roneagles for their futures.

Year in Review

If you are reading this, you have been blessed to see the ending of another year. In 2021, many of us experienced financial losses and the loss of loved ones – yet we survived. As we face the dawn of a new year, let us reflect on the things we accomplished in 2021. Unlike 2020, in 2021 we were able to spend more time with loved ones, go back to work, and even enjoy sporting events.
Because of Roneagles like you, the McDonogh 35 Alumni Association was able to actively support McDonogh 35 High School in several ways. In May 2021, over $50,000.00 in scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors headed to college. A very special thanks to the families and friends of the late Craig Biagas, the late Tristen Edgerson, and the late Chip Simms for sponsoring scholarships collectively totaling $35,000.00.
Alumni have participated in Faculty and Staff Orientation, encouraging the continuation of the legacy of McDonogh 35 High School. We have supported the school’s Library Club which has produced a significant number of students reading books each month. With the assistance of alumni, the school now has an active Student Council. A special “thank you” to alumnus Cornell Williams, Class of 1986, who is assisting in sending the Student Council Officers to the Louisiana Association of Student Councils Convention in January 2022. Alumni have also increased their support of athletics including football, boys’ and girls’ basketball, and volleyball. Please remember that by supporting athletics, we provide support to all school programming.
Since Homecoming was absent in 2020, the Alumni Association worked in conjunction with 1988 alumnus Kevin Edwards to give the 2020 and 2021 Homecoming Courts a special day. For the first time during Homecoming Week, there was a Roneagle Week of Giving which allowed Roneagles and friends to donate to the Association.
Your McDonogh 35 Alumni Association Board of Directors have been hard at work, developing a calendar of events and a strategic plan. Over the next few weeks, we will be seeking input from you in order to finalize the strategic plan.
I pray that 2022 brings better health, wealth, and knowledge for the Roneagle Family. May God’s blessings shower you in the new year.
