Roneagle in the Spotlight: Yvette Alexis

Yvette Alexis is a proud graduate of the McDonogh 35 Senior High School class of 1985 and Southern University at New Orleans. She has years of experience in Human Resources which afforded her the opportunities to work with a NFL Super bowl as well as the 1996 Olympic Centennial Games in Atlanta , Ga. Upon returning to New Orleans she also worked in Human Resources with her primary capacity being training for Southern University at New Orleans and then The Ritz Carlton Hotel.

Since 2003 she has been employed with Delgado Community College, the second largest institution of higher education in the state of Louisiana second only to LSU. Yvette has had a pivotal role in the construction and management of two new sites, Sidney Collier on Louisa Street and River City in Avondale. Currently she is the Assistant to the Vice Chancellor of Workforce Development. She serves as Delgado’s president of the unclassified association, a member of College Council, Workforce Development Executive Team, and the following committees: Endowed Professorship (chair), Student Technology Enhance Plan (coordinator) Commencement, Athletic and Multicultural.

Yvette is a lifetime member of the McDonogh 35 Alumni Association. She has faithfully serve the alumni association since its reorganization and has been a member of the executive board. Yvette has worked with the Centennial, School Relations and Scholarship Committees.

Yvette is a lifelong member of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church where she serves as the Church Secretary, Willing Workers Ministry, New Members Ministry and Director of the Youth Ministry.

She is the proud mother of two adult sons, Destin and Troy.
