Centennial Scholarship Gala
On Saturday, May 26, 2018, nearly 400 Alumni, their family and friends gathered at Mardi Gras World to celebrate the culmination of celebrations in honor of the Centennial year of our historic school. Alumni from the classes of 1946 to 2017 were present. Each attendee received a bag of goodies that included a commemorative program, Centennial year beads, and a second line handkerchief. A VIP reception, silent auction, great music, delicious food and drinks helped make the evening special. Our President, Dr. Darryl Kilbert, boldly and eloquently greeted our guests. Superintendent Henderson Lewis shared a message highlighting some of the alumni who have made significant contributions to our community. General Russel Honoré delivered a spirited keynote address in his signature style. Awards were presented to pay tribute to distinguished faculty. A special service award was given to Troy Meloncon, chair of the Centennial Committee, for her tireless work on behalf of the Association and her outstanding work in bringing the gala to reality. Vice President Ivory thanked all of the gala supporters and attendees, and charged all alumni to continue to work on behalf of our beloved school. Adonis Expose’and Essence Harris teamed up to raise over $2200 at the silent auction. Everyone looked beautiful in their formal attire and all agreed that this inaugural gala was a fitting and awesome celebration in honor of our school’s 100 years of existence. It is up to all of us to work diligently to make sure our school is around for the next 100 years and beyond.
