Alumni Association 2020 Scholarship Awards

For the 2019-2020 school year, the McDonogh 35 Alumni Association will award scholarships to deserving students via its annual Scholarship Program.   The McDonogh35 Scholarship Committee is chaired by alumna Ronelda Brister, class of 1980. Scholarships are awarded to seniors based on the applicants’ grade-point averages, level of service in the school and community, strength of essay composition, and interview process.   After the rigorous process was completed, these scholars were awarded the following amounts to apply toward their college needs:

Along with these scholarships, the Association partners with the family of Clarence “Chip” Sims (Class of 1988) to award the Chip Sims Scholarship to a deserving and high-achieving student-athlete. The Sims family established this scholarship in 2016 to honor Mr. Sims who passed away that year. This year’s honoree is Jada Vincent, who will receive $1,000 toward her attendance at Louisiana State University.

Also, the Class of 1980 will award scholarships to two seniors pursuing majors in the Creative Arts field. These seniors are: Tyler White, who will attend the Arts Institute of Chicago and study Animation Art – and Kendra Norris, who will attend Alabama State University and study Dance. Each honoree will receive $1,000 toward their college needs. Alumna Sheila Prater is the President of the 1980 Class Reunion Committee.
