My dear Roneagle sisters and brothers, we find ourselves going through something that is unlike anything we’ve gone through in our lifetime. Please know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of your Alumni Association Board. Our condolences go out to any of you who have personally lost someone you love. We wish you a speedy recovery if you are experiencing any health issues during this difficult time. We are lifting all of us in prayer and asking that we remain Roneagle strong and safe.
We have been in contact with the principal and administrative staff of McDonogh 35. The leadership and staff are making great progress with teaching and learning in an online environment, as well as staying connected to our students in compassionate and loving ways. Our staff, students, and families are getting tremendous support from the InspireNOLA team.
One of the most powerful things I read recently is “We are all going through the same storm, but we are in different boats.” While we share the commonality of this pandemic, we are all experiencing it through our own lens. We say, “Stay safe at home.” But home is not safe for everyone. I worry about the sexual, physical, mental, and emotional abuse some of us may be going through. I worry about the food, housing, financial, and health insecurities some of us may be going through. I worry about the selfless, unselfish, and lack of choice of healthcare and essential workers who are risking their lives and providing care and service to all of us. I worry about the selfish, foolish, and political folks who are rejecting the science and seriousness of this pandemic and offering no empathy, humility, or remorse for the many lives that we have lost and continue to lose in record numbers everyday.
As Roneagles, we have lost people we love. When we get through this, we will all have been touched in some way by this global pandemic. We are hoping that you are following the guidelines to stay healthy, finding ways to cope with the physical distancing, and handling any grief you are experiencing in ways that will help you heal. Please know that your Alumni Association Board is here for you. Reach out to us through our email address mcdonogh35alumniassociation@
As we get through this, we all need to stay connected to and take care of ourselves, our families, our friends, and each other. I hope you will join us in our Roneagle Roundup meeting so that we can see you and let you know that we are still working for the benefit of our beloved school. Be well and stay safe.
Sincerely,
Roneagle Roundup – Zoom Meeting
